The Brief
Midas was hired by Aidan Meller, creator of Ai-Da robot, to launch the world’s first AI humanoid robot artist. Ai-Da is the first ultra-realistic robot capable of drawing people from life, using her eye and a pencil in her hand. We were tasked with unveiling her debut solo exhibition at the University of Oxford, her appearance at Glastonbury Festival and her participation in the 59th Venice Biennale.
The Work
We launched Ai-Da globally with a press view of her solo exhibition, raising her profile as the artist of the moment. We secured news stories, features and national TV appearances, drove sales of her artworks and footfall to the exhibition, and positioned Aidan Meller as an art industry impresario, putting him forward for industry events.
At Glastonbury, we worked closely with the festival team to programme a stunt in which Ai-Da, set up in her own artist studio, painted headliners Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Diana Ross and Kendrick Lamar.
For the 59th Venice Biennale, we promoted Ai-Da as the first AI-powered humanoid artist robot to take part, a message of what AI-powered art might look like in the future. We announced her participation at a London press briefing, where journalists could interview, photograph and engage with Ai-Da and Aidan, and organised an evening launch event in Venice.
