The Brief
Colin Davidson, the portrait artist behind depictions of presidents, popes and pop stars, turned his own artistic voice into the subject with Twelve Paintings, co-authored with broadcaster Mark Carruthers and published by Merrion Press. MIDAS was appointed to raise the authors' profile and drive sales.
The Work
We ran a publicity campaign spanning print, broadcast and online coverage, developing a PR strategy covering media targets, messaging and timeline. The author wanted to be positioned around his art as a whole rather than solely as a portrait painter, so we built angles around art, gifting and self-expression. We targeted art, national, lifestyle, royal, showbiz, music and gallery media, prioritising written features, interviews and tutorial-based opportunities, and supported the launch party with a social media reel.
The Results
We secured coverage including a print exclusive in The Sunday Times, an interview with Country & Town House, features across art magazines and live broadcast interviews, positioning the author as a leading voice in the art world.
